I’m here today to tell you about HLYWTR and how  we’re “turning thirsty into thirst free”. It all started with a logo that led to an idea, and an idea that led to a shocking realization, what are we consuming and why are we consuming it?!

Every year approximately, 200 billion bottles of water are sold and consumed world wide. Major brands like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Arrowhead, Crystal Geyser, Fiji, and Snapple, make up the majority of the market returning on average less than 2% of gross profit to the people and resource.

With the majority of the market owned by private  entities and corporations, we see number driven products that are riddled with contaminants,  unsustainable production practices, greed driven policies, and most of all, the complete lack of humanity that seems to epitomize corporate culture.

So we thought, Water covers nearly 71% of our planet. Roughly 96% of water is in our oceans and 68.7% of earths fresh water is contained in Ice caps, Glaciers, & Permanent Snow. If bottled water is a  $195,000,000,000 dollar a year industry, why is everything so bad?! How do we fix it?! The answer was simple.

Step one, being that the vast majority of the market is owned by corporations, all we had to do was provide an alternative option on the same shelf.

Step two, was the product itself. How is our product any different? Purity, Clarity, Purpose. HLYWTR is sourced and bottled from a Natural Spring in North Powder Oregon containing zero additives at a neutral level of 7.2 - 7.4 pH. Our bottles are 100% BPA free, made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic.

Step three, "we". Fixing the worlds water crisis comes with a price tag, 36 trillion dollars to be exact. Combined, consumers spend over 195 billion dollars a year on bottled water, meaning, in 18 years our consumption alone can have solved the worlds water crisis. If half of the worlds 19.6 million hospital beds are filled with a water related illness, 9.8 million patients can be cured saving over 19.6 billion dollars conservatively within the first year alone.

So i'll leave you all with this, our world is in our hands.

Our future is built upon our daily actions and our choices shape our outcome. The days of "we'll talk about it when the time comes" are over. We are defining our realities by the second. Work smarter not harder, right? We made it easy, choose HLYWTR.

OUR SOURCE

"As the pioneers traveled west to the beautiful Oregon Country, they anticipated a refreshing pause at this special spring, 50 yards from the Oregon Trail. It was known for its purity and cold crisp taste. As it is filtered through the majestic mountains of Eastern Oregon, it remains as pure and uncontaminated today as it was for the early travelers and Native Americans.

This water is so pure and natural there is no need to alter it in any way. We are located near the small town of North Powder on I-84. We bottle this water at the source!"

FAST FACTS

  • 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population)

  • In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

  • Even MILD dehydration will slow down ones metabolism as much as 3%.

  • Less than half a bottle of HLYWTR will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

  • Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

  • Preliminary research indicates that drinking little more than 3 bottles of HLYWTR a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

  • A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

  • Drinking 3 bottles of HLYWTR daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

  • Are you drinking the amount of good water you should every day?

A LETTER FROM OUR PRODUCER:

Biodegradable vs. Recycled PET

Recycle, re-use. That is the best technology we currently have in 2018. The best way to do that is to purchase bottled water made from 100% or 50% RPET. RPET is plastic made from recycled beverage bottles. Plastic is lightweight, durable, and safe to drink out of.

Recently, biodegradable bottles have become more popular. The fundamental idea of bio bottles is great, but that is where it ends. The bottles will bio-degrade in soil or in compost, but that is not where they end up if the consumer throws them in the trash. This way of thinking does the opposite in teaching the world to recycle.

Along with bio bottles, there has been some companies using boxed water. This has the same problems at recycling centers and waste collection stations. Boxed water has paper, aluminum and plastic imbedded in the packaging. Most recycle centers are not equipped to separate those materials to be re-used.

There are massive amounts of recycled PET worldwide that is waiting to be used over and over again. It is cheap to transport and uses 2/3 the energy to make into a new bottle as it does to make a bottle out of virgin plastic. RPET also reduces the amount of foreign oil being consumed.

It is imperative that our society recycles. There is no way around it. In other countries, and some US cities, you can be fined for not doing your part as a consumer. There are recycle centers being built all over the world and they are producing RPET. That material needs to be purchased by bottling companies for their customers.

At Oregon Trail Mountain Spring Water, we currently bottle 85% RPET. We want to keep that percentage rising in the future. Together with the consumer, we will encourage 100% recycling of our product, and we will keep purchasing our bottles made from recycled plastic.

THE WORLD

THE WORLD

"Access to water is a human right: it is vital for the dignity of each and every individual."

The 2019 edition of the World Water Development Report focuses on the theme of “Leaving No One Behind”. It argues that fulfilling the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation for all can also significantly contribute to the achievement of the broad set of goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: from food and energy security, to economic development and environmental sustainability. Based on the latest data, this report’s findings clearly illustrate the need to make substantial progress towards delivering on the 2030 Agenda promise of reaching the most vulnerable.

The stakes are high: nearly a third of the global population do not use safely managed drinking water services and only two fifths have access to safely managed sanitation services. The intensification of environmental degradation, climate change, population growth and rapid urbanisation — among other factors — also pose considerable challenges to water security. Furthermore, in an increasingly globalised world, the impact of water-related decisions cross borders and affect everyone.

At the current pace of progress, billions of people will remain unable to enjoy their right to access to water and sanitation and the multiple benefits that such access can provide. Yet, this report concludes these objectives are entirely achievable, so long as there is a collective will to do so, entailing new efforts to include those ‘left behind’ in decision-making processes.

This latest Report, coordinated by UNESCO, is the result of a collaborative effort of the UN-Water Family and was made possible thanks to the long-standing support of the Government of Italy and the Umbria Region, to whom we are extremely grateful.

I am convinced that the 2019 edition will spur action and help support Member States in making informed decisions to build more resilient, more peaceful communities, leaving no one behind".
